The Knights Templar and Other Orders

The Knights Templar and Prieure de Sion ('Priory of Sion')

"At the time of the foundation of the Order of the Temple(A. D. 1118), the Grand Pontiff (Johannite Order) was named Theocletes; he was acquainted with Hugo de Payens, and initiated him into the mysteries and privileges of his Church, promising him the Sovereign Priesthood and supreme government, and finally designating him as his successor." - Rosicrucian Brotherhood V.1 N.4 October 1907

"As the Order of the Templars, therefore, was originally formed in Syria, and existed there for a considerable time, it would be no improvable supposition that they received their Masonic knowledge from the Lodges in that quarter. But we are fortunately in this case not left to conjecture, for we are expressly informed by a foreign author,. who was well acquainted with the history and customs of Syria, that the Knights Templars were actually members of the Syriac Fratemities." To understand the forces operating behind the Knights Templars, it is necessary to examine the doctrines of the Johannite Order of Oriental Christians."-Orders of the Quest, The Holy Grail (Adept Series) by Manly P. Hall pg 30,31

"Eliphas Levi and several other authors and historians advance the belief that Hugh de Payees had been initiated into a strange sect of Christian Johannites then flourishing in the East." -Orders of the Quest, The Holy Grail (Adept Series) by Manly P. Hall  pg 28-30

"At the time of Hugh de Payers, Theocletes was the living "Christ" of the Johannites. He communicated to the founders of the Temple the ideas of a sovereign priesthood of dedicated and initiated men united for the purpose of overthrowing the bishops of Rome and the establishment of universal civil liberty. The secret object of the Johannites was the restoration of the esoteric tradition and the gathering of mankind under the one eternal religion of the world. " -Orders of the Quest, The Holy Grail (Adept Series) by Manly P. Hall pg 31

"The Templars, like all other Secret Orders and Associations, had two doctrines, one concealed and reserved for the Masters, which was Johannism; the other public, which was the Roman Catholic. " morals and dogma p817 by Albert Pike

"Thus, from the beginning, the knights of the Temple served two doctrines. One was concealed from all except the leaders and certain trusted members; the other, publicly stated and practiced for the sake of appearances, conformed with the regulations of the Church. "- Orders of the Quest, The Holy Grail (Adept Series) by Manly P. Hall pg 32

"It is well to add here a few details about the Knights Templars, since they are so intimately connected with the Masonic Order; details which will serve to show the inner aspect of their traditions. Much has been written about them and their history from one aspect — is better known than that of almost any other Mystic organization, but the fact of a secret teaching is not sufficiently clear. That there was a secret doctrine amongst the Templars is shown by 'Becker ches sur les Opinions religieuses des Templliers.' He points out that the Knights considered that the Roman Church had failed in its ideal, and that when the terrible persecutions fell upon them that they divided and joined two different associations, one the body of Freemasons and the other a body named the Johannites." - Ancient Mystic Oriental Masonry By R. Swinburne Clymer pg. 101-102

Jacques De Molay, the last grandmaster of the Knights Templar, looks exactly like Christian Rosenkreutz.
Jacque DeMolay, said to be the last grandmaster of the Knights Templar, looks exactly like Christian Rosenkreutz.
"Among these Templars (that escaped) were many Rosicrucians who handed the secret knowledge down from initiate to initiate, and as the Rosicrucian Fraternity has never been abolished from any country, for very good reasons, the secret science has never been disconnected, as it were, as has been the case with every Order " - Ancient Mystic Oriental Masonry By R. Swinburne Clymer pg. 75

"As the members of the Templars who escaped were few in number and died one after the other, the remaining members drew together to form a bond of friendship, to which end they drew up certain rules. This new society appeared in different forms and under different names, Cross Society or Brothers of the Cross, Noaities, and in later days adopted the name of Freemasons."- Ancient Mystic Oriental Masonry By R. Swinburne Clymer pg. 99
